Historic denim brand, Shaft Jeans was born in Montpellier in the 1960s and was acquired in May 2004 by the Florentine entrepreneur Francesca Bacci.
Francesca Bacci had already over 20 years of experience nell’azienda di famiglia, che produceva da decenni clothing made with American denim directly imported from Cone Mills (at the time the largest denim manufacturer in the world and supplier of the major brands of the time, including Levi Strauss & Company).
She then founded the company Manifatture Twins (nome emblematico per Francesca: “I am of the sign of Gemini, I have a twin sister, I was lucky enough to have twin children and I also married an engineer husband of the Gemini sign“) e produce fin da subito con il marchio Shaft denim garments for men and women entirely sewn in Italy, getting immediate success.
In 2015, after graduating in Fashion Design from the Politecnico di Milano and having worked in New York at R13, her daughter Letizia Palchetti Tosi joined the company in the role of style and sales manager for Italy and abroad and the Shaft models took on a strong 70s connotation: paws, flares, bootcuts, high waists, leather inserts, metal rivets, fringes…
The team is joined in 2020 by Letizia’s twin brother, Lorenzo Palchetti Tosi, who, with a degree in Economics from Università Bocconi in Milan and 5 years of experience at various multinationals in Italy and abroad, goes on to fill the role of production manager and financial management of the company.
With the advent of the children the company takes a strong impetus abroad: today Shaft Jeans is present in the USA, Benelux, Switzerland, France, Spain, Germany, Austria and Italy.
Francesca Bacci still works in the company together with her children, covering an institutional and supervisory role and following the creation and development of new projects, models and collections.
All models and prototypes are created and developed directly in the company and the entire production chain is continuously monitored by qualified internal personnel.
Shaft Jeans today has become an important landmark in the production of premium Made in Italy denim, always up to date as evidenced by the collaboration with the Italian rock band Måneskin (who has been wearing Shaft since the beginning at X-Factor in 2017) and in continuous evolution towards the future: the opening of the first flagship store in via Roma in Forte dei Marmiis scheduled for April 2023, a concept store where the brand’s heritage will be combined with the international context of the place.
